Well our ride into the SEQ food belt promised to be an exciting one with a super cell storm forecast for sometime in the day and we were heading straight in its direction
...but first we welcomed a few new bikes into our family
Brenton's first ride with his Zuzuki 1000 |
Leigh's new Victory hiball..what a steal! |
Debbie and her red Triumph Daytona |
Grant 's BMW GS1200...a great bike |
in the end 11 bikers were ready to ride.... |
So off we headed on the freeway (have to do this sometime unfortunately) out to Yamanto to pick up our fill in tour guide , Tim who replaced Des ( route designer)....who had some expensive Guzzi issues...but thankfully resolved for our roadtrip.
the "kite" trip , a leisurely ride |
So we got off the main road and headed through Rosewood and Grandchester towards Laidely for morning tea.
When we finally made it to Laidely we were greeted by a familier face at the Eagle rock Cafe...wow what a great place..in the american 50/60's soda shop syle.....need one of these in Brissy
Elvis is in the building |
everyone enjoyed the step back in time |
we ended up at the eagle rock cafe for awhile as a big storm blew through. It was a fantastically set up cafe taking us back to the days of good old rock and roll in the 50's and 60's.
Not Sure how such well set up cafe end up in Laidely but definitely reckon it would do a fantastic trade in Brissy. They were a little short staffed when 12 bikers strolled in along with normal customers...still we enjoyed the ambiance and conversation as we waited
bikes certainly got a good wash as the promised storm blew through. |
After the storm finished we headed off cross country to Fernvale navigate through roads with tonnes of water on the side of the road
check out the water from the passing storm |
we were chasing the storm as it headed towards Brisbane thankfully we didn't catch up |
We then meandered our way through Fernvale and onto Australian Motorcycle Museum at Haigslea, with a few having to to peel off home ...they did miss a real gem, we spent the next few hours enjoying looking at history and enjoying some great conversation over complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits....and it rained again as we meandered around the museum. Amazing we didn't get a drop of water on us.
Tim thinks this bike is a little too big for him |
Sooo many great bikes so little time |
there is just not enough time.... |
