Headin South - 2015 roadtrip DAY1

Along with Paul's singing Santa we were all excited as 8 bikes and 9 riders prepared for four days of awesome riding on some of the best bike roads in NSW .....imagine doing the Oxley Highway, Waterfall Way ,Armidale rd and the Gwyder highway to name a few.....and yes, Steve verified that this 1,700km roadtrip included 1,700 twisties ...OMG!

ahh the open road beckons...to Boonah

but didn't get off to the best of starts as we headed to breakfast at Boonah...we managed to lose Richard for a time....but our location app, life360, soon showed us where he was. We were soon well on our way to Flavours @ Boonah to enjoy the the first of a long list culinary delights.

It was then off to to Stanthorpe for a rest stop and Texas for lunch...and I got to say that it was surprising how many twisties there were. The sign to the left did highlight the realities though there was a question as to was it 15 dead Kangaroos?

strange things indeed...was that a Darlick shadowing steve?

the temperature was rising so we enjoyed our lunch stop very much

drew & megan cocker on their Honda Goldwing
We thought Megan  was particularly brave to be the only lady on the trip abd we thoroughly enjoyed her company...it actually made us shower daily:) With the big, bright and bold goldwing around we never got lost...there was no way you could miss it.
Johaan, thx for getting into the spirit

Des's green bear added a festive flavour

good to see some of the riders got into the Christmas spirit ....though some town folk though Drew's red beast was Santa arriving into town.
We had to keep going with 580 km's to get through on day 1 ...so we did spend a little time quenching  the thirst of both our bikes and ourselves on this hot day.
Richard enjoyed his desert a little too much !

It was a thankful group of bikers as we pulled into the Thunderbolt Inn at Uralla and found our rooms and had a refreshing shower and searched out a place for dinner.... finding the "Top Pub" for a great meal and lots of fun.
After a good sleep we assembled outside the hotel for our tradition picture with bikes
Gearing up to leave "Thunderbolt Inn"
